Talk about beer goggles

After Oregan state football player player Ben Michael Siegert was arrested for DUI, police found a sheep stashed in the back of his pickup truck.

The sheep was stolen from a university research facility and was part of a study on homosexuality in sheep.

"I don't know anything about that," the Beaver said. "I'm from a city. I don't know anything about sheep."

The Civ bug

I've known for years that I would succomb to it eventually. This is the reason why I didn't dare to even talk to Pennawitz or look at his computer screen our sophmore year at Loro...

No it's not Cultures Ideas and Values. It's about being obsessed with inventing wheels, constructing the Angkor Wat, discovering steam power and building the Manhatten Project. I'm talking about Sid Meir's Civilization 4.

Since the school bonnenkai last Thursday and since Simona went back Friday morning, my life has been (other than 1 Xmas even party, 2 chiropractor visits, 20 laps in the pool and 300 jumpshots from triple threat) nothing but mikan oranges and Civilization. In 3 play sessions, I have conquered the world as Tokunaga Iyesu, outscored everybody by 2030 AD as Louis XVI, and created 3 legendary cities as Otto von Bismark. I vowed to stop playing last night after I nuked everyone with 20 something ICBMs after I have already won the game, but blogging about it now is bringing me closer to that icon sitting on the left side of the desktop...

Hey everyone look! I'm an asshole :(

The following is an email from the Tottori email list (I think the emails can be read by non-members):

From: "Ian Andrews"
Date: Sat Dec 17, 2005 4:41 pm
Subject: I'm having a baby :(

Not sure if I should be happy or not. My ex is 6 months pregnant with me.
Finally, she decided not to have abortion in the second time as she kept
changing her mind thousand time! She was pregnant with me, but i did
PERSUADE to have abortion. She did it eventually.

I'm having a baby. Not should what to do.

Ian

Not sure if he meant to send the email to the list or not. Either way, what an asshole.

(updated 12/20/05)

Hey,

I have got reply from Sheffield Student Service about your situation. They said
if I can get letter from Central Heath Clinic to proof that I have been there.
And, I have to write letter to Dean of your department statte that you asked
me to make one letter from my doctor to proof that you were ANXIETY with my
pregnancy which actually you pretented to be.

After review, they will re consider your exam result and degree.

Subject: [TottoriExchange] from Ian

Hi, I think many people must have been surprised by the email that was sent out from Ian's email address earlier this week. I have taken his email off the list, so the person using his address will no longer be able to post messages.
Here is an email from Ian explaining things a little.
Mayumi

**********************

hey Mayumi, thanks for the email

i am back home in England now for 2 weeks, I will be here until 31st
December.
I did not write the email, and its not true either. It seems a few weeks ago
that girl hacked into my email account and got my password from somewhere
and proceeded to read all my emails and get information. she started
registering me with various sites and also managed to get my yahoo password
from somewhere, hence the post on the exchange. she is just trying to be a
nuisance and is desperate for attention of any sort
i received an email from her saying that she will turn up at my house at
christmas, so i am in the process of calling the police and getting a
restraining order.

I appreciate the concern that the other JETs have for me, but none of what
she wrote is true, she is grasping at straws for things to tell other people
about to upset me. Thanks for removing the accounts from the exchange, i
will get back to you soon with a new email account

I'd greatly appreciate it if you could post this email on the forum, or
write something short to let the other JETs know not to worry!
lastly, please do not reply to this email address as i will be chnaging to a
new one shortly! i will write to you immediately after with my new address

Ian Andrews

I suspected that this might have been the revenge of some crazy ex. I guess the saga is over now, can't say I'm not a little bit disappointed. I was hoping for something juicier.

(updated 1/5/06)

I was mistaken. Here's more juicy on the way:

Subject: Happy New Year

CC: (more tons of people)

he must have done some terrible thing that why his thai ex wants to revenge. lucky him, having a baby...there will be DNA check as soon as the baby is born in Apr

This email was mailed with five photo attachments:

exhibit 1) Ian's face nibbling on a right breast.
exhibit 2) Ian's face buried in someone's crotch.
exhibit 3) A naked bust shot of Ian (to be honest looks more like an ID photo to me).
exhibit 4) A headless, clothless torso shot from the navel level upwards to chin.
exhibit 5) A close-up of a condomless penis inside a vagina.

The lesson, as always: don't pay with credit cards or checks when in Thailand.

Where the nowhere man is

Can't remember from where I read this word today:

nullibiquitious

Take a wild guess what it means.

Fantasy Updates

Out are the underperforming Rafer Alston and Al Jefferson. Replaced by free agent David West and waiver wire grab Tyson Chandler. It's over: I should be named executive of the year.

(speaking of executive of the year, funny how Rob Babcock went from the joke of the league to sudden frontrunner for executive of the year with the drafts of Jose Calderon and Charlie Villanueava and the fleecing of Alston for Mike James)

Cowbell Champs: 2nd place, 25-11 (but a whopping 76 roto points, if this were a roto league)

PG M. Bibby (Sac - PG)
SG P. Pierce (Bos - SG)
G J. Richardson (GS - SG)
SF R. Jefferson (NJ - SF)
PF D. Nowitzki (Dal - PF)
F R. Wallace (Det - PF,C)
C M. Camby (Den - C)
C J. Przybilla (Por - C)

Util A. Iguodala (Phi - SG,SF)
BN T. Chandler (Chi - PF, C)
BN B. Simmons (Mil - SG,SF)
BN D. West (NO - PF)

I drafted a new team in a Yahoo public 12 team roto league. Weak at FT and 3pt but strong everywhere else. My proposed trade of Walker/Foyle for Maggette/Kaman would have fixed the FT problem but was veto'd by the league. Still, the league is a joke anyway: someone drafted Horry in the 2nd round and Korver in the 3rd.

Infinit Monkey Smell: 5th place, 71 points.

PG G. Arenas (Was - PG)
SG G. Wallace (Cha - SG,SF)
G K. Hinrich (Chi - PG,SG)
SF R. Artest (Ind - SF)

First snow of the year

Too bad Dad didn't get to see any by the time he left on Sunday. Should have brought a camera to school.

It turned into a snow/hail thunderstorm in the afternoon. My teacher had a Japanese name for it, which I forgot, but I noticed that every time a thunder struck it seemed to cause the snow/hail to fall much harder temporarily. The strangest weather phenomenon I've experienced, besides the Taiwanese monsoon season and the sunny days of California.

(updated 12/12/05: the Japanese word for thunder snowstorm or snow thunderstorm is
雪お越し, which means the beginning of snow)

Homeward bound

Just handed in the paperwork notifying Daisen-cho's board of education that I will not be re-contracting for a third year. It's official: homeward bound from now on.
